We were lucky enough to take a trip to NYC and stay with a friend (thanks Tom!). We had a GREAT time! Here are a few highlites, minus all the good food we ate (the best bagels EVER - and I'm big into bagels!) and what we forgot to take pictures of.

I won the lottery tickets to WICKED!!!!! I used my temple reccomend for I.D., which gave for an awkward pause, but the musical was AWESOME! Front row seats for $26 made it even better. Then we got our favorite dessert at Bubba Gumps in Time Square, the cookie skillet, mmmmm!

We were walking on campus at BYU while waiting for Jon to finish a test, when the sprinklers turned on and Dallin booked it for them. We enjoyed watching him have fun, until he we took of his clothes and left with him crying all the way back to the car.

We spent the afternoon at Temple Square with Jon's sister, Jen, and her daughter Megan who were in town from Maine.

CRUISE

We were so lucky to go on a Greek Isles cruise with my parents and Paul & Anna. We had a wonderful time and saw some absolutely amazing and beautiful places. Oh, and yes, we ate a lot of amazing food. Here is a tiny glimpse of the places we saw. I'll hopefully get around to making a mor indepth slideshow of our great vacation. And a word of gracious thanks to my sister, Becky and her husband, who so willingly watched our boys so we could go on this relaxing vacation.

One of my favorite things to do in Venice is just adore all the wornout, colorful side-canals with the bridges. Beautiful!! It's even better while eating Pistachio gelato!

Venice, after it DUMPPED rain on us for hours in the morning. We were all drenched! this is taken from Rialto bridge just as it began to clear up. I thought it was adventurous, although we don't look the best in the pictures because our of our damp, stretched out clothes and grose, wet hair.

The island of Corfu, Greece. It has some of the most beautiful veiws (unfortunately I didn't capture any real good ones when we were there to share). This was taken from a Palace there.

Overlooking the bay from Santorini (the Island if Thyre) Greece. This once was the top of a volcano, but now the crater has sunk and there a few small towns on top of this crescent-shaped cliff, and some smaller islands across the bay.

Taken from Santorini, Greece, probably my favorite place we went. It is absolutely beautiful there, atop an island cliff overlooking blue water and stark white buildings. Pretty windy, hot, yet the view was spectacular. I loved walking around small stone "streets" (more like paths) and see white on blue everywhere. It is quite a romantice place, if only we had seen the sun set there and been there in the evening! I loved it there.

Didymus, Turkey. The unfnished palace gave a us a feel of visiting Athens (since we didn't go there). It was so cool to see the work that went into these structures. Caleb's new favorite movie is Hercules, so it was fun to be around all the Greek Mythology and places where much of it took place.

Miletus, Turkey. This is an ancient theatre, not as big as the one in Ephesus, but older. Apparently some real important and neat ideas were announced/discussed here in councils. I couldn't understand our guide very well, so we need to brush up on our history of the place now that we've been there.

Here in Ephesus, Jon took a seat on some of the oldest public toilets in the world with a plumbing system!

This is a shot from our moving bus of the beautiful Old Town in Dubrovnik, Croatia. This was a fascinating place to see, with a plaza fountain, palaces, monestary, white marble roads, and more in this fort built before Napolean took over. Oh, and the food we ate there was sooooo good.

I built the boys a fort (Dallin's first) and they loved being in there together. (Of course Caleb wouldn't let Dallin leave and pounced on him each time and made him cry)

Dallin turned 1! He had chocolate cake (a first for both) and he LOVED it, as most kids do. He ate so carefully with his fingers. He was a joy to watch and not bad to clean up.

Hanging outside with dad, going on walks and doing yardwork are frequent occurances at our house, now that the weather is good. They all love it!

So, I figured that all tags should not end with me, so I'll finally do the other tags. I could never top either of my sisters', and these will be short, but here I go:

Three joys:

Three Fears:

1-Losing one of my boys - Being a mom has definitely given me new and more fears.
2-Losing all of my eye-lashes -I think I've got my dad's hair genes, hence, this truly is my fear!
3-I've got a little aracnyphobia (those of you who know me know I'm not the best speller) - They freak me out no matter how small or big, how few or many, what color or where. I HATE SPIDERS.

Now for 7 things that most people probably don't know about me (this is a hard one):

1- I have a thing for gummy candy's
2- I oppted to forgo the Eiffle Tower for a delicious chocolate crepe (ok, I actually had two, and some ice-cream)!
3- I had 13 teeth pulled and had braces for 7 years, and I still don't have straight teeth.
4- I love to watercolor (really though, I love the end product and not-so-much doing it)
5- In my alternate life I'd love to run a bakery (I like to make baked goods - mostly just because I love to eat them). I have my share of ridiculous, night-time baking stories.
6- I used to love to do crunches (at least 800 a day). All for NOT/naught, after seeing how I carry when pregnant! Now I despise them.
7- I can eat an enitre large pizza if I wanted to. I usually hold back for my image, but especially Jon and my brother Jeff know it's possible.

[Man! Most of those were revolved around food. I'm sure there are lots more interesting these about me that I wouldn't mind sharing, but off the top of my head, this is all I could think of]

Yes, I've been tagged several times and have never done it (sorry). But for this OH NO! tag, it was only one thing, so I thought I'd start off with it. My Oh No moment isn't half as bad as others I've seen (thankfully I haven't had that many YET - I only have one toddler!). This photo is the aftermath a year later; I'm sad I didn't get one in the moment. I was upstairs making pancakes on a typical Saturday morning. Then, Jon and I noticed it was a little quiet (the sign most parents know is trouble). Jon went downstairs to check on Caleb and that's when I heard, "Uhh, HEIDI!!" I knew it was bad after that response! I ran downstairs to find Caleb COVERED with my bright red acrylic paint all over his clothes, the floor and the door. Luckily it was water-based acrylic, so it rinsed out right away from the clothes and off the door. I assumed we were lucky that our basement was (and sadly still is) unfinished, but the paint seeped into the cememt extremely fast and no matter how fast I scrubbed, I couldn't get it all off. I think if it were carpeted, then the paint would've come out easier. Now we get the beauty of red streaks on our basements floor. Thanks Caleb!

Caleb's birthday, and the McQueen cake he ended up wanting (I had a hunch that would happen). I didn't go all out on the cake and make fondant (maybe next year), but instead just made up my own way of doing it. The eyes were droopy, but at least it tasted good (that was the consensous). We stayed in Midway at my parent's condo because that is Caleb's favorite place and he wanted to be there for his birthday. Hey, it's free and easy!

So, I've been lazy and haven't gone out and bought a wire/USB (whatever they're called) to get the pictures off our camera and onto our new computer. The laptop was so much easier! Anyway, now that Spring is finally and hopefully on it's way for real this time, and my boys aren't sick, I'll get out and buy one. Then I'll put some updated pics up. As you can see, I use this mainly to put up photos and not to write, so our site looks neglected. But rest assured, I've been checking all of yours! Our cameras card is full too, so I don't have tons of recent ones either. Soon . . . soon!

So, I really need to get on the ball and update our blog. I will soon, but I just had to post this conversation I had with Caleb a minute ago. After I decided I was going to be brave, learn how to make fondant and make him an awesome birthday cake and then we searched online for some cool-looking cakes, this is all he wanted:
"Caleb, what do you want for your birthday cake?"
"Ummmm"
"Do you want a Lightning McQueen cake?"
"No. I want . . . a . . . a triangle. A triangle like this." [then he makes a triangle with his fingers]
Guess I'll wait until my child actually cares before I put a lot of time and effort into something I thought was fun. NowI just have to make a triangle cake!

Finally, a smiling picture. Dallin (and Caleb for that matter) is so smiley, but as soon as he hears or sees the camera, he's in awe and wants the camera. It's hard to get a photo of him smiling and not moving!

A common occurance: Caleb loves to get in the crib with Dallin. Caleb can't wait for Dallin to wake up and I can't wait for Dallin to grow up, only to play with Caleb (of course I love the stage in life where they still don't crawl!)

This is the look I get ALL the TIME! Love it!

Annual family outing to Gateway on November 12 (the day and place I went on my first date with Jon). We've had our picture taken here every year, including on our first date (don't ask why he had a camera . . . yeh, I thought it was strange, but now I'm glad we have a photo of our first date! Not too many people do.)

It was a doosey! So Caleb threw a ping-pong ball (yes! A PING pong ball) up in the air, never minding he was under the stairs and the ceiling was 3" from his face! He did what his dad always tells him . . . to keep his eye on the ball. It left a pretty mark and a FAT lip for several days. I kept looking for a golf ball under the stairs, but only found the ping-pong ball. The kid must have a great arm!

So, I forgot to turn this picture, but I'm in a hurry, so you'll have to turn your heads! Hey, just pretend that 'Buzz' is flying. Caleb loved being Buzz this year. He had a blast seeing all his "friends" (which is everyone he sees in our neighborhood) walking around in costumes! I just loved his cute knocked knees in this costume!

Here's our TV junkie! I loves to watch TV and thinks that they are talking to him when there's closeups speaking to the camera, which usually makes him give a loud chuckle!

I have to admit that I "stalk" their website because I just love looking at their gorgeous and stylish dresses, wishing I had all of them, and grateful that they were smart and brave enough to start such an awesome business. So, growing up I didn't like to wear dresses that much (just ask my mom). But that has certainly changed; even more so having gone through the whole pregnancy thing a few times and solely wanting to be a 'good-looking' woman again. I've been "obsessed" with playing around with their dresses and accessaries, trying to find what outfits I love best. Who doesn't want to go on a Mediterranean Cruise? (especially young mothers who deserve it, right?) I personally haven't ever been on a cruise, but I've been extended the possibility of going on this cruise next year, and would love, love, love to get this dress (and any one of the outfits) to make the experience a real dream! This is the inspiration to my vingettes. The best part of this is that you only have to take one dress, and then pack up all the accessories to make your visits to each port a special occasion.

We finally made it out on the water last month. Too bad I got motion sickness (no! I'm not pregnant!) and didn't do much, but at least I made it on the boat. My boys had a great time, including being submerged by Grandpa.
A summer day, just relaxing and taking a nap on the porch. Who gets to do that these days that isn't old and retired? Oh yeh, that would be my lazy boys! ok, so Jon's not lazy, but the other two could pass.
Caleb loves to be by Dallin, so here are some mug shots on the couch (the only place I let them sit together).

Dallin had hernia surgery a few weeks ago. It went well and he was a trooper! Here he is still waiting for the meds to wear off so we could take him home.

Caleb and Jon went to a Demolition Derby a couple weeks ago. Now all Caleb wants to do is watch this video and relive the exciting night. He loved watching the cars crash and now makes all his cars crash into each other when he plays. I'm glad Jon took him and a great father-son outing, even though every day is father-son day around here. Dad's Caleb's best bud!

We had Dallin blessed last month. He slept the whole day pretty much, so we never really got a good picture of him. Come to think of it, Caleb did the same thing when he was blessed, so I guess it's ok that neither of our boys have good pictures from their blessing day. Oh well. At least we got one together as a family, right?

This is the first time Dallin decided to smile long enough so I could get a picture! He's such a good baby!! Caleb has been pretty good with him too, except when he wants to make us mad and he takes a swipe near Dallin. He doesn't actually hit him, but gets as close as he can, like he's threatening us. It's kind of funny.
We went to a SL Bees game and made it through dinner before the game and untill the bottom of the 6th! that's longer than I thought we'd make it before one of the boys got too difficult. Of coarse it was Caleb, who only sat still while he had food loaded with sugar (he gets his sweet tooth from his mom)! Caleb kept meso busy, that as we left I had to ask Jon who they were even playing! Pathetic. Over all we had fun, but next time we're getting a sitter!

So here's how my Sunday went, and why I'm about done typing right now:
As I was trying to decide what shoes to wear to church, and Jon and the boys were already in the car, I stood on our bathtub (as I usually do when I want to see my feet, because we have to get another full-length mirror). I grabbed the top of the shower, next to the tub, to get down, and my ring caught! Instant pain and blood! the ring sliced some skin, but I was just glad that I still had my finger. Don't get any incredibly gross ideas, because it's fine, after going to the emergency room and getting my ring cut off to avoid cutting off my circulation because it swelled so much. Thank goodness it was only my CTR ring ,that I never take off, and not my wedding ring. I will now only ever wear my wedding ring, because I'm so perinoid. It hit me hard to think I could have lost my finger, which is very common. I strained the ligaments in my joint, but it will be fine soon.
Here's some pointers I want to give after my experience:
Remove all your rings when doing activities where they could get caught, i.e. water skiing and rock climbing were mentioned by the nurse.
Titanium ring are EXTREMELY difficult to cut off (and I imagine painful).
Don't ice appendages with gel packs, only ice, because ice melts at body temperature and gel does not, which can cause frostbite (yes, I found out by experience, but it was very minor, just painful)!
Moral: GET A FULL-LENGTH MIRROR!
(Guys think it's: don't care what you wear)

The funny part is, a couple of my gilfriends in the neighborhood do the same thing; I don't feel dumb afterall!

We go with Heidi's family once a year to a Salt Lake Bees (Triple A) baseball game each summer. Caleb saw the mascot coming towards him and this is how he reacted. Classic!
This is one of my favorite pictures of all time of Caleb. This was taken in Rexburg, ID. We have made it a family tradition to go there each summer. So far we have been successful. 3 for 3. Caleb is known for his 'shifty eyes.' This picture is in the cafeteria at BYU-Idaho. He looks so innocent, but only if you knew.
This is old, it's from his first birthday party. It was just Mom, Dad, Aunt Mindy, and Uncle Jeff. Heidi made the hat for him. He thought it was pretty cool. Notice the sweet bib on him, you can't read it, but it says Chick Magnet. Thanks Ashley and Justin!

This a favorite family picture of ours. It was taken in July of 2007 at the Lion House. Heidi's sister Mindy got married and this is at the reception.
I had to give each of you a personal experience of looking into those eyes. He sure is a cute kid!
This is in Santa Barbara, CA. I spoke at EFY there in July of 2007. Heidi came with me and we had a little three day get-away without Caleb. It was absolutely amazing! The campus is behind us and a little to the left. How students study while attending there I will never know.

Heidi's family went backpacking every year for 25 years straight. I was able to partake in that tradition and went in August of 2007. It was for three days and we had a great time. Heidi sure impressed me with her 'outdoor' skills. Watching your wife gut a fish is an awesome experience. She sure is a trooper! Actually, more like a general!

Caleb got a toy lawnmower from his great grandparents which he loves to push around while I mow the lawn. It makes yard work more fun and also enjoyable for Caleb to be outside. I have really gotten into yard work more this year and enjoy seeing the 'fruits of my labor.'

I finally got around to updating our site, seing as we never gave anybody our blog address because I haven't posted anything since last summer. So, I started over.

What better time to start over than with our new addition to our family: Dallin Jackson West! He came 3 1/2 weeks early (to my relief) and weighed a healthy 6 lbs. 13 oz.. Most people that talked to me when I was pregnant know that I really don't enjoy anything about being pregnant, except for the miracle at the end of having a baby. I would even go through labor a few times over being pregnant for nine months! But, thank goodness I'M NOT PREGNANT ANYMORE!!!! That's all Jon had to say to help me through labor, and it worked! I'm so greatful to have Dallin and that he is a beautiful, healthy boy!
